The murder of a woman allegedly by her boyfriend at Shawela outside Giyani in Limpopo has led to a spate of community protests. Police say the woman was stabbed to death on Sunday morning.
Spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba says community members have blocked roads, calling for the arrest of the suspect.
Mashaba says police are in the village, monitoring the protest.
“Residents took to the streets and blocked roads, demanding swift action after a woman was brutally stabbed to death, allegedly by her boyfriend, during the early hours of Sunday, 17 August 2025. The suspect fled the scene shortly after the incident, sparking widespread anger in the community. Lieutenant General Hadebe has reiterated that while the police understand the sensitivity of the case and the pain it has caused, lawlessness will not be tolerated.”
