Seven people have died and one has seriously been injured during a head-on collision on the N4 toll road between Machadodorp and Belfast in Mpumalanga in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Community Safety, Security and Liaison Spokesperson Moeti Mmusi says the cause of the collision is still under investigations.
He says preliminary indications point out that dangerous overtaking and speeding might have been the possible cause of the collusion.
“A tragic head on collusion between two sedans on the N4 toll road between Machadodorp and Belfast claimed seven lives early on Saturday morning around 01:00 am. One occupants remains seriously injured and is receiving treatment at the nearby hospital in Belfast. The cause is still under investigation, but preliminary indication point to the dangerous overtaking and excessive speeding as possible factors,” says Mmusi.
