Seven die in N3 Mpumalanga crash as minibus overturns

Seven people have died after a minibus overturned on the N3 toll road about 10 kilometres North of Villiers in the Grootvlei area in Mpumalanga this morning.

Five others sustained injuries and were rushed to Frankfort Hospital in the Free State.

The minibus was reportedly travelling from Gauteng to KwaZulu-Natal.

Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison Spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi says an investigation into the crash is currently under way. 

“They died at the scene of the crash and they were all occupants in the Hyundai. The investigation into the crash is already underway. RTMC will participate in this investigation, working closely with the police as well as the safety engineering team of the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison. The road had been closed for some time and law enforcement agencies and emergency personnel are still working on the scene.”
