Northern Cape police are investigating a case of negligence against the owner of a pit bull that attacked a 10-year-old girl.

Reatlegile Pitsoemang lost an eye and suffered a skull fracture in the attack.

She is scheduled for reconstructive surgery at the Robert Mangaliso Hospital in Kimberley.

The girl’s mother, Kelebamang Pitsoemang says the dog removed an eye and some bones from her child’s face.

The flesh of my child was falling. The pit bull removed her eye. She doesn’t have an eye now. The bones on her face are broken. The doctors say they can’t see some of her bones. Some are missing. They can’t see them on the scan. They don’t know if the dog ate them or what happened to them.”
