Second suspect arrested in DJ Warras murder case

Gauteng Serious and Violent Crimes Investigation’s Provincial Investigation Unit has, during a Crime Intelligence led take down operation, arrested a second suspect in connection with the murder of DJ Warras.

The 25-year-old suspect, a Mozambican national, was arrested in Marathon informal settlement in Primrose, on Saturday night.

The operation was conducted by the Provincial Investigation Unit, together with Crime Intelligence and Ekurhuleni Metro Police. The suspect will appear before a magistrates court, on Monday on charges of murder and the contravention of the Immigration Act.

“A special investigation unit that falls with in the serious crimes unit in the province as well as Ekurhuleni metro policer were in Primrose informal settlement where they arrested a Mozambican national who is illegal in the country and the suspect has been detained,” says Gauteng Police Spokesperson, Brigadier Brenda Muridili.

The first suspect to be arrested on the matter, Victor Mthethowakhe Majola’s bail was denied, earlier this week. He is due back in court on 11 February 2026.

Police have rejected allegations that a third suspect was shot dead.

“The issue of someone being shot dead it’s something that we haven’t get it. But I know the media does investigative journalism, but it’s not information I have,” says Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant-General, Tommy Mthombeni.

The family of DJ Warras was too distraught to comment on the latest arrest.

Police investigations are continuing.
