Second state witness to testify in Zuma-Sambudla trial

A second state witness is expected to take the stand Tuesday morning in the trial of MK Party Member of Parliament Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla in the Durban High Court.

Zuma-Sambudla pleaded not guilty to one count of incitement to commit the offence of terrorism and two counts of incitement to commit public violence on charges related to the 2021 July unrest.

The state’s first witness Major-General Gopaul Govender, who is the Hawks’ national co-ordinator for Unrest Investigations, testified that although Zuma-Sambudla had no links in setting up the WhatsApp groups which allegedly incited violence, she however acted in common purpose, with those who influenced the looting and destruction.
