Search continues for missing Montana teen lost at sea near Simonstown

The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) says their search continues for a teenage boy from Montana who had gone missing at sea in Simonstown near Fish Hoek, Cape Town on Wednesday.

Another teenager who was with the missing boy was rescued and taken to hospital.

NSRI Spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, says the two teenagers were caught in a rip-current and swept out to sea.

“The rescued teenager was transported to hospital by CMR ambulance in a serious but stable condition. Rescue resources, rescue craft and the Skymed rescue helicopter, arriving on the scene, joined CoCT lifeguards in ongoing search efforts for the missing teenager, including five rescue crafts, two NSRI rescue craft, two lifeguard rescue crafts and a Law Enforcement marine unit rescue craft and the Skymed rescue helicopter. Despite extensive air, sea and shoreline search efforts there remains no signs of the missing 18-year-old male,” says Lambinon.
