Crime Intelligence Head Dumisani Khumalo testifying before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in September.
Durban man James Stuart Scharnick is expected to open a case against Crime Intelligence head, Dumisani Khumalo, in Pretoria on Wednesday.
This follows Khumalo’s testimony at the Madlanga Commission in Pretoria, where he linked Scharnick to suspended National Deputy Police Commissioner for Crime Detection, Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya.
Khumalo said a vehicle driven by Sibiya was registered under Scharnick’s name.
Testifying before the commission in Pretoria last week, Khumalo said the Toyota bakkie driven by Sibiya on the day of a police raid was registered under Scharnick.
“The list is reflected. There are lots of questions. If you commit so many thefts and hijackings within the space of two years and you are found guilty, how many years and when are you serving your sentences, because everything is like in a very short space of time, that is part of the investigation that is still ongoing. That is the criminal profile of the owner of the bakkie,” explained Khumalo.
According to Khumalo, Scharnick has faced 34 criminal charges in total, 18 resulting in convictions, 11 withdrawn, and five acquittals.
