SAWS warns of damaging waves in parts of W Cape, Namaqua

The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has issued a level two warning for damaging waves along parts of the Western Cape and Namaqua coastline for this weekend.

A cold front is also expected to bring large south-westerly waves of up to 5.5 metres, with strong winds of up to 60 kilometres per hour between Hondeklip Bay and Plettenberg Bay.

Authorities say the weather could pose risks to beachgoers, small vessels and port operations.

Residents and visitors are advised to exercise caution, avoid risky coastal areas, and stay up to date with official weather alerts.
