A motorists drives through rainy weather.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level two weather alert for severe thunderstorms across Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumlanga, Limpopo and the Free State for Saturday.
Residents in low-lying areas are advised to take extra precaution due to potential localised flooding.
Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela says the warning applies especially for the eastern parts of Gauteng into the southern parts of Limpopo as well as Mpumalanga and the western interior of KwaZulu-Natal and the Free State.
A yellow level two weather alert indicates potentially dangerous but unlikely-to-be-extreme weather that could cause minor disruptions to transport and society, such as localized flooding or damaging winds.
