The South African Weather Service has issued warnings for heavy rain, strong winds and possible flooding in parts of the country on Monday.
Forecaster Tokelo Chiloane says similar weather conditions are expected to continue on Tuesday.
“A yellow level four warning for severe thunderstorm has been issued for the Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, and the escarpment areas of Mpumalanga. In addition, a yellow level two warning for severe thunderstorms, which may lead to localised flooding, is in place for Gauteng, North West, and the Highveld of Mpumalanga for today,” says Chiloane.
Authorities have urged residents in affected areas to remain cautious and monitor weather updates.
The weather service says further advisories will be issued as conditions develop.
