The weather warning for disruptive rain issued by Weather SA for large parts of the Eastern Cape has been downgraded from level 5 to level 2.
The advisory indicates that the level of rain can still lead to localised flooding and damage to infrastructure like roads and bridges.
The mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, Babalwa Lobishe says the metro will implement its contingency plan regardless.
“Even though the level has dropped, our joint operational centre for disaster management will be opened and be ready for any occurrence even the one for Uitenhage will be opened so that any eventuality that will come, we will be ready.”
