Team South Africa don’t qualify to run the men’s four by 100 metre relay today at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
Team South Africa’s men’s four-by-100 relay team failed to qualify for Sunday afternoon’s final at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
The Paris Olympic Games silver medalists were allowed to rerun their race, but alone.
South Africa, not at full strength, was disqualified after a botched handover in their heat on Saturday, but lodged an appeal following physical contact between Italian Marcel Jacobs and Shaun Maswanganyi at the end of the first leg.
They needed to run a time of 38.34 seconds or better to qualify. They misfired and could only manage 38.64 seconds.
That means South Africa will only be represented in the men’s four-by-400 metres final in the closing session of the world championships later on Sunday afternoon.
They gave it their all ❤️
