Sardines netted in upper south coast in KZN

KwaZulu-Natal’s most-loved silver delicacies, the sardines, are being netted at Rocky Bay, Park Rynie, Warner Beach and Winkelspruit in the South Coast, as well as in Amanzimtoti, south of Durban.

KZN Sharks Board Area Operations Manager Wayne Harrison says the sardines are expected to make their way towards Port Shepstone, Umzumbe and right through to Brighton beach within the course of this week.

“Sardines are being netted today on the upper south coast, there has been netting taking place. Everything has been moved through from Rocky Bay, Park Rynie, Northwards and into the Warner beach, Winkelspruit area and Amanzimtoti. These sardines came through in one large bulk format. These fish are actually between the Port Shepstone, Umzumbe area, right through to approximately Brighton beach.”
