The South African Police Service (SAPS) is working in partnership with other countries in South America, Europe, and Australia to remove drugs off the streets.

National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola says a number of operations with these countries have yielded good results in getting drugs off the streets, and operations are continuing.

He was speaking at the destruction of more than R300 million worth of drugs in Cape Town.

“When we do drug busts, mostly we arrest the real kingpins, either here in South Africa or in other countries. You’d remember last year we had an operation where we did an operation that was here in South Africa, Australia, the UK, and South America at once.”
