SAPS says 500 000 of their applicants in the recruitment drive, are women
The South African Police Service (SAPS) says over 300 of the one million people who have applied to join the service are graduates and 500 000 are women.
Gauteng had the highest number of applicants for the Basic Police Development Learning Programme followed by KwaZulu-Natal. The deadline for the applications was last night.
National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says 334 765 applicants are in possession of a NQF 6 Diploma and higher qualifications.
“It is important that we note that first preference will be given to graduates in the Law and policing fields, Information Technology, Criminology, BSC graduates and then followed by graduates from other disciplines that are in possession of a driving license,” she adds.
Mathe says they will also consider matriculants who have a Bachelor’s entry into university, as well as those with a driver’s license.
