Police at Mossel Bay in the Western Cape have opened two inquest dockets after two men died earlier today at the Ironman competition taking place in the town. Police spokesperson, Chris Spies, says preliminary reports suggest that two men, aged 29 and 58, believed to be participants in an event, were retrieved from the water earlier today.
“Both were taken to a nearby medical facility, where one person was declared dead on arrival. The other man was declared deceased later. An autopsy to determine the cause of death will be conducted later this week. The investigation continues,” says SAPS spokesperson, Chris Spies.
