SAPS confirms death of reservist during Naledi supermarket robbery


South African Police Service (SAPS) Spokesperson Noxolo Kweza confirms that a police reservist has been shot and killed during a robbery at a supermarket in Naledi, Soweto.

She says a second police member was injured and has been taken to hospital for medical attention.

“Members were doing their routine patrols when the suspects fired shots at their car as they were escaping from the supermarket after committing the robbery. We can confirm the fatal incident that cost the life of a police reservist and left one member injured. We have no arrests at this point and are appealing to anyone who has information that can assist in the investigation to come forward or call the police toll- free on 0800 10111,” she says.
