Police Captain Johannes Jansen Van Rensburg is expected to return to the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on July 30th on charges of fraud and theft.
Van Rensburg was granted R50 000 bail during his court appearance yesterday.
He was arrested over the weekend by the SAPS anti-corruption unit following an internal investigation.
Authorities say the case relates to a suspicious transaction amounting to R5 million.
Van Rensburg, who is attached to the SAPS Protection Security Services, has been placed on suspension following his arrest.
He made his first court appearance on Tuesday in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.
