Taxi organisation, SANTACO, says that any of its members found responsible for the brutal killing of the e-hailing driver outside Maponya Mall or any other violent act will be suspended immediately.
Mthokozisi Mvelase was murdered and his vehicle was set alight outside the Soweto mall last Wednesday night, and two other people were injured.
The incident sparked outrage in the community, resulting in protests around the iconic mall where the incident occurred.
SANTACO president Abner Tsebe says those responsible must face the full might of the law.
We condemn this violence in the strongest possible terms. It is inhumane, criminal, and unacceptable.
Let me be clear today that SANTACO has a zero-tolerance policy for violence. Any operator, driver or member of our association who is found to be involved in this attack or any sort of violence will be immediately expelled from our ranks.
