Sandton meters to be closed tonight to manage demand: Joburg Water

Johannesburg Water says it will be closing the Sandton meters at 18:00 tonight until 5:00 tomorrow morning to manage demand and ensure equitable distribution of water to all systems and customers.

The water utility in a statement says that Linbro and Marlboro will be affected immediately, while other reservoirs and towers will decline based on demand. Other areas to be affected are the Illovo, Bryanston, and Morningside reservoirs.

Johannesburg Water Acting Communication Manager Pheladi Ramatshila says the intervention is necessary to manage demand and the equitability distribution of water to all systems and customers.

“Affected systems include Linbro Park, Malbro, Morningside, Brynston reservoir and tower, as well as the Illovo reservoir and tower. Linbro and Malboro direct will be affected immediately as per the stipulated times, while the reservoirs and towers will decline based on demand. Please note it can take a few hours for direct feeds to fully recover once the system is reopened,” says Ramatshila.
