President Cyril Ramaphosa says he will be deploying the South African National Defense Force (SANDF) to tackle gang violence and illegal mining in the Western Cape and Gauteng.
He was delivering his State of the Nation Address to a joint sitting in Cape Town.
The President says the South African Police Service and the National Defense Force must rapidly develop a technical plan to address gang violence and illegal mining in the two provinces.
