SANDF member arrested after allegedly stabbing 2 colleagues to death

A member of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has reportedly been arrested following a stabbing incident at the Macadamia Military Base near Komatipoort, Mpumalanga, on Saturday morning.

It is alleged that the soldier fatally stabbed two of his colleagues during an altercation. The suspect is currently in the hospital after attempting to take his own life by stabbing himself as well.

However, there are conflicting reports about the incident, as it was initially stated that three soldiers had died as a result of a shooting.

The member is expected to appear in court soon on charges that are yet to be confirmed. The SANDF is collaborating with the police to investigate the situation. SANDF members have currently been stationed near the entrance to the base.

The SANDF spokesperson, Prince Tshabalala has asked for privacy and during this time for families and colleagues to come to terms with the tragic incident.

“Preliminary information indicates that a tragic altercation involving SANDF members resulted in the death of three soldiers. It is alleged that one of the soldiers fatally shot two of his colleagues before taking his own life’” adding, “Further details will be communicated once they are officially verified.”
