The claims surfaced after Broos lambasted Orlando Pirates defender, Mbekezeli Mbokazi, for unprofessional conduct, and criticised his agent, Basia Michaels, for not having the player’s best interest at heart.

The strongly worded criticism at a media briefing at Bafana Bafana’s pre-Africa Cup of Nations training camp in Pretoria on Wednesday, led to the United Democratic Movement (UDM) asking the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) to investigate the matter.
UDM Deputy President, Nqabayomzi Kwankwa says the basis of their complaint centers around the utterances that were made by coach Broos’s press conference, where he referred to matters of colour for an example, saying there’s a black guy, he will make him white and then he referred to the agent of Mbokazi as a little girl who knows nothing about football.
“The statement was incredibly sexist but it also undermines her profession. No one is above the law here in South Africa. So, we want the Human Rights Commission to investigate our complaint, looking to the evidence that is available at everyone’s disposal and get SAFA and Hugo Broos to account for what he did,” he adds.
SAFA maintains Broos’ comments, aimed purely to address football matters, were misinterpreted and later amplified into unfounded character accusations.
