As today marks 32 years since the assassination of then SA Communist Party (SACP) General-Secretary Chris Hani the party says it’s still not satisfied with the investigation into his murder.
Hani was brutally gunned down on the 10th of April 1993.
His assassin, Janusz Walus, was released on parole in 2022.
His parole period ended last year, which led to his deportation to Poland, his country of origin.

A commemorative event is set to take place today in Cofimvaba in the Eastern Cape in Hani’s honour.
SACP’s National Organiser Mhlekwa Nxumalo says, “We have never heard any truth, we have been going to court for several years rejecting the application to be released on parole – until such time that the Constitutional Court ruled the way in which they ruled.”
“Now we [and] the family until today, are still not satisfied and we think that there is a lot that is being hidden. Hence, after Waluz was released and went to Poland, his first interview in Poland when he was asked what was going to happen if a similar chance is given, he said if he can be given a second chance he is going to do it again.”
