SACP disbands KZN provincial structure over internal weaknesses

The SACP has confirmed the disbandment of its KZN Provincial structure. This follows the meeting of the SACP’s Politburo held over the weekend in the North West.

The Politburo, which is the highest decision-making body of the Communist Party between its Central Committee, discussed the economic, political and organisational situation facing the working class in the country.

Speaking to SABC News, the party’s Central Committee member, Dr Alex Mashilo, says they found some weaknesses in their KZN provincial structure and dissolved it with a view to strengthening it.

“In discussing the strengths and weaknesses of a working-class organisation in the country, the Political Bureau placed the SACP at the centre and began its analysis with the strengths and weaknesses of the SACP, looking at all provinces and districts.”

Mashilo adds: “It then came to the conclusion that to strengthen the capacity of the SACP in the province of Moses Mabhida, being KwaZulu-Natal, given the tasks at hand as well as the battles that lie ahead, is to dissolve the Provincial Executive Committee and put in place processes leading towards Provincial General Council and a Provincial Congress.”
