SA will continue to advocate for global peace: Lamola

International Relations and Cooperation Minister, Ronald Lamola, says South Africa will continue to advocate for peace on the global stage.

Lamola was briefing the media on recent developments relating to the implementation of South Africa’s foreign policy in Pretoria this afternoon.

He says the conflicts on the continent are a concern and hinder economic development amid the United State of America’s imposition of tariffs on numerous countries, including 30% tariffs on South Africa.

South Africa has established a team to assess conflicts in the region, Lamola told the media.

“A delegation led by Deputy Director-General for Africa, Ambassador Tebogo Sokolo, recently visited Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger to gain first hand insight to the dynamics in the Sahel region and the great lakes region. South Africa remains strictly concerned about the humanitarian and security situation in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo despite peace agreement,” Lamola says.
