According to Communication and Digital Technologies Minister Solly Malatsi, South Africa is taking steps to ensure that the 23 million people who are not connected to the internet get connected.

Malatsi was speaking at the G20 meeting of member states in Polokwane in Limpopo. Malatsi says it is important to get the whole population connected to the internet.

“South Africa has 23 million people who are not connected to the internet and our focus as the department is to make sure that we get communities connected so they are active in the digital economy. Also, to encourage young people to move into E education and encourage entrepreneurs to build and grow businesses digitally.

If you take into consideration that the future of education has changed this day and age that we live in, a lot of things have moved online and in order to be active online you need to access to that connectivity.”
