SA govt and business pledge $36.6m to Global Fund

The South African government, working with the private sector, has pledged a total of $36.6 million towards the Global Fund replenishment.

This is the equivalent of R630 million in pledges that go towards the building of resilient health systems, scaling up local production and diagnostics.

The Fund set up by G20 countries provides 73% of all international financing for TB, 60% for malaria and 24% for HIV.

President Cyril Ramaphosa made the announcement of South Africa’s pledge at the G20 8th Global Fund Replenishment summit in Sandton, Johannesburg.

“We are deeply grateful to all partners who have made early pledges of nearly $4.3 billion so far. These initial pledges laid the groundwork for a robust campaign throughout 2025.”
