South Africa’s defence and aviation industries and other international stakeholders came together to showcase their best innovation and technology in the defence industry at the Air Force Mobile Deployment Wing in Pretoria.
The air show has breathtakingly diverse aerial displays and aerobatics.
Deputy Chief of the South African Air Force Major General Lancelot Mathebula says, “The aircraft that we used to fly that we have retired, that we bring here to make sure people understand our history as an Airforce. But basically, we do have a couple, including those Airforce museum aircraft, but also the private sector aircraft that will be showcasing the skills and the capacity of the South African air show systems”.
Mathebula says they are committed to developing aviation awareness in schools with a view to boosting careers in the Airforce.
“We have the youth development programme as well as the Department of Basic Education, which brings about 25 or so schools to visit. We do have the joint training awareness programme where we visit the high schools, including the primary schools.”
