SA businesses learn more about UK trade agreement

South African businesses have gathered in Johannesburg to learn more about trading with the United Kingdom (UK) through a dedicated trade agreement.

The SACUM-UK Economic Partnership Agreement is a free trade agreement between Southern African countries including Botswana, Lesotho and Mozambique.

The meeting brings together businesses in the automotive and agriculture sectors and comes as global trade is being reshaped by tariffs and geopolitical tensions.

Vice-President of the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry is Neil Pollock says, “If you look at our relationship with the UK and we look at South Africa, it is mature, it’s well understood and the trade routes work extremely well. What a lot of people forget is actually how governance-oriented South Africa is and that’s why I think a large part of the world looks to South Africa first as a gateway into Africa because of the way that we do business.”
