South Africans are anxiously awaiting the Criminal Intelligence Chief Dumisani Khumalo’s testimony before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria on Monday.
He was arrested and appeared in court on allegations of fraud and corruption.
Khumalo was arrested after landing at the OR Tambo International Airport alongside six co-accused, all senior police officers.
The chairperson of the commission, retired Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga has confirmed Khumalo’s appearance.
Madlanga asked: “For the record, Mr Chaskalson, it has been reported to us that the issue of General Khumalo appearing in court on Monday, magistrate’s court, has been resolved with regard to his appearance before us at 9.30 on Monday.”
Advocate Matthew Chaskalson replied: “Yes, Chair, I have consulted with both the prosecutor and his legal team, and I understand that it has been resolved. That is the position.”
