Rural young women have been urged to explore entrepreneurial opportunities for self-sustainability and contribution to the economic outlook of rural Eastern Cape.
The Dadethu 4th annual event unpacked different categories of life from financial to emotional intelligence.
Successful and emerging businesswomen came under one roof to craft comprehensive strategies for exploiting business opportunities in every sector.
Entrepreneur Lisa Ndyalivane says business is a solution to joblessness in the country.
“You become independent, you have peace in your heart and you are following your passion. There are days that you will not make money but whenever you wake up, you wake up with hope and knowing that you are going to make a difference and feed other families. So it is quite important that we get active and involved and make a difference, help other families, help yourself most importantly.”
Dadethu initiative also provides young girls from disadvantaged communities with sanitary towels.
Dadethu director Zintle Mbusi says the provision of love, emotional support and sanitary towels is among their top priorities.
“One thing I love about these visits is that it’s not only about sanitary towels, you get there and those kids they trust you with their stories, they get to tell you sex stories, they tell you stories of them being allegedly raped by their uncles and neighbours. So it is an initiative that I am hoping and I am praying because I believe that there is so much to do and we have so much to change through this initiative.”
