Roadsafety Campaign
The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) says it’s ramped up operations nationwide as holidaymakers head to various destinations.
Many other law enforcement agencies have launched their festive season safety campaigns to ensure the safety of residents and visitors during the holiday period.
RTMC spokesperson Simon Zwane says officers have been deployed to hotspots to ensure compliance with traffic regulations and maintain safety.

“We have prepared the best we can because we know which are the routes that will be busy and which spots along the routes are prone to fatal collisions. And we also identified where we need to deploy more officers to ensure 24-hour visibility. So we’ve already deployed our national traffic police to those areas like the N1 towards Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape down to the Western Cape. So the provinces that give us the highest number of fatalities,” says Zwane.
