Royal AM players during a match
Financially troubled KwaZulu-Natal football club, Royal AM is reportedly back on the market after Durban businessman, Chockalingam “Roy” Moodley’s deal to buy the club collapsed at the last minute.
According to reports, the controversial business’s background has led to the failure in the bid to purchase the club from Shauwn Mkhize.
SABC Sport has learnt that Sars curator Jaco Venter has found information that makes the businessman unfit to take over.
Royal AM had been facing challenges since December that forced the PSL to postpone no less than 13 of their matches so far this season. They were also withdrawn from the Nedbank Cup — decisions that caused significant damage to the PSL’s image and reputation.
The Revenue Services had placed former owner Shaun Mkhize under administration for the debt of about R40 million.
