Axed Roads Agency Limpopo CEO Gabriel Maluleke.
The CEO of the Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL), Gabriel Maluleke, has been fired for alleged corruption and misconduct.
In a statement, the Public Works Department says Maluleke was found guilty of dishonesty, financial misconduct, negligence and contravention of the Public Funds Management Act.
His dismissal follows a disciplinary hearing into his conduct. Maluleke is yet to comment.
Department spokesperson Emmanuel Mongwe says they are determined to root out corruption.
“MEC (Ernest) Rachoene says the department committed to the seventh administration that it will deliver services to people to improve the economy. He, therefore, focuses on the mandate that the people gave us and to no one who seeks to derail the goal of government. The department entity is also focusing on other interventions to rebuild the organisation, and this includes investigations into alleged maladministration activities.”
Maluleke was suspended in August pending an investigation into his conduct.
At the time of the announcement of his suspension, the RAL said the aim was to ensure that further investigations could be conducted without interference.
