Road closures, delays expected ahead of Cape Town Marathon

Cape Town traffic authorities have cautioned the public about several road closures ahead of the Cape Town Marathon.

The main race is set to take place on Sunday.

Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the race start in Green Point due to road closures, heavy traffic, and limited parking.

No-parking restrictions will remain in effect until early Sunday afternoon.

Traffic Spokesperson Maxine Bezuidenhout says drivers can expect delays in the CBD and surrounding suburbs, with some roads operating in contraflow and temporary stop-and-hold measures in place. Members of the public are encouraged to use the Park & Ride or Park & Walk services and to steer clear of parking in restricted areas. Any vehicles left in these areas will be towed.”
