Geordin Hill-Lewis speaks at the inaugural meeting of the Council of the City of Cape Town, after being elected as the new Mayor of the City of Cape Town.
Mayoral spokesperson in the City of Cape Town Lyndon Khan says the resident of Bothasig who has filed a harassment order against the mayor is suspected to be running an illegal car repair shop in the area.
The case against Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis has been postponed in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court to the 4th of November.
The application was filed by the resident a few months ago who alleges that law enforcement officers have been deployed to his home on numerous occasions without merit.
Hill-Lewis’ office has dismissed the allegations as being without merit and a waste of the court’s time.
It is also alleged that this is because a relative of Hill-Lewis resides near the applicant.
Khan says it is suspected that the repair business is being run in violation of city by-laws.
