A customary law expert has argued that her research on the Mphephu Ramabulana customs was not biased. Zamokuhle Mopai is under cross-examination in the VhaVenda throne battle in the High Court in Polokwane, Limpopo.
Princess Masindi Mphephu is challenging her uncle Toni Mphephu Ramabulana for the throne.
Mopai says the Mphephu Ramabulana Royal Family is the institution of the Masingo Ramabulana dynasty and custodians of the VhaVenda throne.
“Maybe I should also state the research methodology which I use is called a Critical Incident Technique. (It) is not the same as the one that Professor Mnisi is talking about. Now, with Critical Incident Technique, you need to speak, you need to have a purpose, and you need to speak to the relevant people who are knowledgeable (about) the incident. Going back to the paragraph that I am talking about, it states the purpose of the report and who was consulted to produce the report. By who was consulted I maintained literature; I maintained interviewing the Mphephu Ramabulana Royal Family and other participants who understand the Tshivenda traditional leadership,” says Mopai.
