Report on George building tragedy complete, pending review: Winde

1 minute

Western Cape Premier Alan Winde says a report initiated by the provincial government into the George building tragedy which took place in May is ready.

Winde was attending an event in George where he met survivors and family members of the 34 victims.

Some of those who survived suffered horrific injuries, including amputations.

Answering questions about the investigations, Winde says their provincial report will only be made public after they have done due diligence.

“‘Our own investigation is complete and in peer review and we will have it early next year, we are expecting it in January. and of course, once we get it, we will decide what we do with it. but primarily we’ll also cooperate with the Police and the Department of Labour because those are the two departments whose responsibility it is to do the main investigation.”
