The aftermath of heavy rains and winds in the Free State.
The South African humanitarian organization Red Cross says plans are afoot to assist those affected by heavy rains in the Free State following last week’s heavy rains in the province.
The Department of Water and Sanitation says water levels in some of the province’s storage dams are over 100%.
Red Cross Provincial Manager Claudia Mangwegape says they will respond swiftly to the affected communities.
“Now, we are busy and packaging food parcels for those that have been affected by the floods. But other than that, with the support received from Department of Cogta, we will be able to respond swiftly to the communities that were affected on Friday and Saturday. So, we are still going to have more rains and as a result, we have prepared ourselves enough to be able to respond across the province,” says Mangwegape.
