Rand Water says its planned water infrastructure maintenance project is progressing well. The project, which began last month, involved connecting a new pipeline at the Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant and cleaning Sasolburg Reservoir 1.
The next phase of the project will start on June 30 and continue till July 18.
It will affect water pumping at Eikenhof, Zwartkoppjes and Palmiet systems, and could lead to low water pressure or intermittent supply in parts of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni, Tshwane, and several surrounding municipalities.
Rand Water Spokesperson, Makenosi Maroo, says, “The maintenance has been strategically scheduled to occur during the low consumption months of May to July to minimise disruption and better manage the potential impact on water supply. Rand Water will provide regular updates via its official communication channels and social media platforms to keep customers informed. The affected municipalities will also advise consumers on the impact of any water supply disruptions.”
