Ramathuba takes the helm in Limpopo, ANC prioritises water crisis

Newly elected Limpopo African National Congress (ANC) chairperson Dr Phophi Ramathuba has thanked her predecessor, Stanley Mathabatha and former deputy chairperson Florence Radzilani for bringing stability to the party.

Mathabatha has announced his retirement from active politics.

Former deputy chairperson, Radzilani, didn’t make it in the top five but was elected as an additional member of the provincial executive committee.

Ramathuba was speaking on the last day of the conference, in Polokwane.

“Let me also acknowledge the sterling work of the 10th Provincial Executive Committee under the chairperson, Comrade Stanley Chupu Mathabatha and comrade Fulufhelo Florence Radzilani. Comrades, you stabilised our branches, you strengthened the organisational presence and ensured that Limpopo remains a decisive force in the national politics of the ANC,” says Ramathuba.

Meanwhile, Limpopo ANC secretary, Reuben Madadzhe, says the 11th elective congress has resolved to tackle water shortages in the province.

Madadzhe is urging the water authorities to work closely with municipalities to facilitate the unblocking of all bulk water projects that have stalled.

Limpopo has been grappling with acute water shortages for many years. Madadzhe also calls on municipalities to fix stalled water reticulation projects.

“Minister of Water and Sanitation to employ public interventions in unblocking all the blockages in the bulk water supply. Conference urges all water service authorities and municipalities to activate all the stalled water projects and devotes such functions to capable local municipalities as per the resolution of the 10th provincial conference to enhance technical capacity in the delivery of water to our communities,” he says.
