Ramaphosa to meet National Dialogue Eminent Persons group on Friday

President Cyril Ramaphosa will hold an inaugural meeting with the members of the Eminent Persons Group at the Union Buildings today.

The Group was appointed by President Ramaphosa as ambassadors for South Africa’s much-anticipated National Dialogue.

Some of the names that will serve on the Eminent Persons Group include Springbok Captain Siya Kolisi, retired Constitutional Court Judge Edwin Cameron, former Member of Parliament Lindiwe Mazibuko and former Minister and constitutional negotiator Roelf Meyer.

The Presidency says in a statement that this morning’s meeting with the Eminent Persons group will be an opportunity for President Ramaphosa to outline the expectations and mandate of the chosen ambassadors.

The Group is also expected to share its views on the role and organisation of the National Dialogue.

The ambassadors will thereafter receive a briefing from the National Dialogue Preparatory Task Team on the progress towards the first National Convention, which is scheduled to take place next month.
