President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the eulogy at fallen struggle stalwart Gertrude Shope’s funeral today.
Ma Shope, as she was affectionately known, passed away on Thursday last week at the age of 99.
The President has declared a Special Official Category 1 Funeral for Shope.
The Funeral is expected to begin at nine am in the Great Hall at WITS University, Shope will then be laid to rest at West Park Cemetery.
Meanwhile, ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula has paid tribute to Shope at her memorial service in Irene, Centurion.
Mbalula says Shope was the mother of the nation and will be remembered as a beacon of resilience.
