Ramaphosa speaks to Trump, trade teams to talk further


President Cyril Ramaphosa and his US counterpart Donald Trump have spoken telephonically.

Their conversation which happened yesterday comes ahead of the implementation of the US-imposed 30% tariff on South African imported goods.

The tariff is due to be implemented in less than 24 hours’ time.

Presidential spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says, “President Cyril Ramaphosa held telephonic discussions during the period of 6 August. Respective negotiating team will forward more detailed discussions.”
