President Cyril Ramaphosa.
President Cyril Ramaphosa will today engage the youth in Khayelitsha Township, in Cape Town – on a roundtable.
This is part of the ongoing consultations with stakeholders ahead of Thursday’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).
The Presidential Youth Roundtable is hosted by the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) in the Presidency.
The Presidency says the engagement – which is a precursor for the SONA – is an interactive session whereby young South Africans will have a direct and open exchange with the President.
Ramaphosa will engage with the youth on their perspectives, challenges and ideas for the nation’s future.

Political analyst Professor Ntsikelelo Breakfast says President Ramaposa must announce bold steps to drive the country’s economic growth and development when he addresses that nation on Thursday.
Ramaphosa is expected to report to citizens on government’s performance and set out the programme of action for the year ahead.
Professor Breakfast unpacks some of the issues that Ramaposa is likely to touch on.
“The state of the nation is informed by the January 8th statement of the ANC even though there is this arrangement of power sharing between the ANC, D and other political parties. I think they adopted a plan which is aligned with the national Development plan, but the security threats have always been framed as inequality, poverty, unemployment and of cause there will be other issues of gender-based violence crime, the economy, the emphasis of the GNU has been the reduction of poverty.”
