Ramaphosa lauds private sector as YES programme surpasses 200K jobs

President Cyril Ramaphosa has expressed his administration’s gratitude to private companies that have taken national government’s initiative with both hands to absorb unemployed youth as interns, to provide workplace experience.

He was delivering a keynote address at the Youth Employment Service’s (YES) 200 000 jobs milestone at Illovo in Johannesburg on Thursday.

This year’s theme, “Impact Multiplied. Futures Unlocked”, complements a historic milestone for South Africa’s largest private-sector-funded youth employment programme.

The YES programme has to date placed more than 202 558 young South Africans in 12-month full-time jobs, enabled by over 1 900 corporate partners.
