Ramaphosa calls on ANC members to advance non-racialism society

Delegates at the African National Congress (ANC)’s National General Council (NGC) will on Wednesday continue their policy discussions after being split into commissions.

The NGC, which started on Monday, will end on Thursday in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg.

On Tuesday, ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa called on the party to advance non-racialism through its policies.

Speaking during the party’s 70th anniversary of the Freedom Charter at the NGC, Ramaphosa said the task of building a non-racial society is important in the broader society.

“Ensuring that every South African appreciates their equal and irrevocable right to call this country home. And all South Africans must feel that they have a future here. But more importantly, we must do it as the African National Congress.”

He added: “Our structures, our programs, must be representative of the non-racial character that we have embraced, the principles of equality of all national groups.”
