Ramaphosa announces water committee to deal with water woes


President Cyril Ramaphosa says he will be establishing a National Water Crisis Committee which he will be chairing to address the numerous water problems being experienced nationwide.

He is delivering his State of the Nation Address to a joint sitting in Cape Town.

The Johannesburg Metro is the latest to experience serious water issues.

Ramaphosa says technical experts and resources will be deployed to affected municipalities.

Ramaphosa says criminal charges have already been laid against 56 municipalities for failing to supply proper water services. He says municipal managers are also being put on notice.
